On April 15th<\/sup>, the appreciative residents of Bay Aging\u2019s Winters Point senior apartments in West Point were treated to delicious home cooked meals donated by Tony & George\u2019s Seafood & Italian Restaurant.\u00a0 The meals were delivered by head waitress Carmen Mayfield, who has worked at Tony & George\u2019s for over fifteen years.\u00a0 Ms. Mayfield, clad in a protective mask and gloves, greeted residents with the enticing aroma of fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, a warm dinner roll and a homemade brownie for dessert. \u201cThe Winters Point residents gave us a card thanking us for our kindness.\u00a0 It was lovely seeing the appreciation on their faces,\u201d Ms. Mayfield said.\u00a0 \u201cDuring this time of crisis, we wanted to do something for the people in our community, so we chose to feed the seniors at the Winters Point apartments,\u201d added Tony Ashikis, co-owner of the restaurant.<\/p>\n The meal deliveries were among the first of many Bay Aging hopes to coordinate through its new Helping Neighbors initiative.\u00a0 The goal of Helping Neighbors is to support seniors, and those with underlying health conditions, to stay in their homes and be safe throughout the Coronavirus outbreak.\u00a0 Additionally, Helping Neighbors is structured to support the local economy by purchasing meals from area restaurants.\u00a0 Bay Aging is approaching specific restaurants as requests for assistance from area residents are received.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" On April 15th, the appreciative residents of Bay Aging\u2019s Winters Point senior apartments in West Point were treated to delicious home cooked meals donated by Tony & George\u2019s Seafood & […]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":2431,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"_uf_show_specific_survey":0,"_uf_disable_surveys":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[29],"tags":[],"post_folder":[],"class_list":["post-2430","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-volunteer-spotlight","entry"],"acf":[],"aioseo_notices":[],"yoast_head":"\n
