Transportation

Accessible, affordable transportation for all.

Improving people’s lives by making their communities more accessible. That’s the mission of Bay Transit, which provides public transportation services – or more than 140,000 rides annually– throughout the Middle Peninsula, Northern Neck and New Kent and Charles City Counties. This service – the only public transportation service in the region – allows riders to get to work, medical appointments, shop for groceries, attend social engagements, and more.

Bay Transit is a division of Bay Aging, founded on the belief that every citizen must be assured accessible, safe transportation to the destination of their choice, without regard to disability, age, or economic status.

Who We Serve

Art Dubey, a 78-year-old Vietnam War veteran, has lived in his Mathews County home for many years. As his eyesight began to deteriorate, he needed an alternative to driving himself to continue living an active, social life. That’s where Bay Transit stepped in. Today, because of Bay Transit, Art doesn’t let “legal blindness keep me from enjoying life and being active in my community.”
